From News Center (Text by Huang Jianxia, School of International Education; Photo by Huang Tianyi, Meng Mianhan, and Cai Hanxiang, Convergence Media Center) To celebrate the International Women's Day, the first March 8 Surfing Festival in Liuzhou was officially launched on March 8 along the picturesque banks of the Liujiang River. The event was sponsored by the Chengzhong District Federation of Trade Unions of Liuzhou, organized by the Liuzhou Women's Surfing Club, and co-organized by the School of International Education of Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU). Some teachers and students from the School of International Education of LZPU, as well as 6 international students from countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cameroon, participated in this event. They joined over a hundred female sports enthusiasts to experience the joys of water sports, interpreting women's power with youthful vitality and building a bridge for cultural exchanges.
LZPU international students rode the waves, showcasing the charm of diverse cultures. Under the guidance of professional coaches, they experienced water sports such as sailing and kayaking, bravely challenging the waves, as laughter and cheers filled the air. A cheerful French song, accompanied by a playful dance, further highlighted the brilliance of women. Joyce (Chinese name: Mai Wen) from Cameroon sent festive wishes to all female friends in French after singing the song.
The co-organization and participation in this event vividly exemplify the "educating through practice" philosophy: allowing international students to immerse themselves in Liuzhou's cultural life, which can not only enhance their cross-cultural communication skills, but also showcase women's power and celebrate the festival from a youthful perspective, as well as tell Chinese stories to the world. The event sponsor praised LZPU students for injecting international vitality into the surfing festival, and it plans to cooperate with LZPU to create more regular cultural and sports exchange programs in the future to promote enhanced cultural and sports exchanges between China and other countries.
